I love to recycle containers, especially glass bottles and jars. If you are looking for a gift for mom, I made a quick and easy Mother’s Day gift using a recycled jar, Kool Tak™, Prima paper and Sizzix flower dies.
Materials:
- Kool Tak™ Double Sided Permanent Tape, 1/4″
- Kool Tak™ Sparkles- silver fine glitter
- Kool Tak™ Foam Pads, 1/4″x1/4″x1/16″
- recycled jar
- bamboo skewer
- Prima scrapbook paper
- yarn- enough to wrap around the jar twice
- tag with sentiment
- pearl for inside of flower
Tools:
- Sizzix Flower with Heart Petals die
- Sizzix Leaves die
Assemble your materials for your gift for mom. Wash and dry the recycled jar.
Starting at the bottom of the jar, wrap tape on a diagonal up and around to the top of the rim. Repeat with another strip of tape to form a second spiral. Remove release paper from the tape and pour Kool Tak™ Sparkles silver glitter over all sticky areas. Smooth the glitter over the tape with your fingers to distribute it evenly. Wipe excess glitter off with a soft cloth or brush.
What I like about this tape is that it is nice and thick so when you add the glitter, it looks three dimensional. I found it very easy to position around the glass but I also like to use it when I assembling my matboard boxes and books- it’s very strong. Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear Tape bonds glass, metal, plastic, wood, and paper. You will want to keep a few rolls of this on hand!
To make the 3D flower, die cut three sets of the flower and leaves from Prima paper. Ink edges of the petals with a stamp pad.
Starting with the largest flower, add three or four small Kool Tak™ Foam Pads surrounding the hole in the middle of the flower. Stack the next size petal on top and add foam pads for dimension. Layer petals until you have a flower to your liking. Trim a bamboo skewer to desired height and poke the pointy end into the holes in the middle of the flower until it pokes out the top. Press a pearl onto the top of the point. Secure with glue if desired.
