Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and friends. My Niece, Nephew and I have created a tradition of making the Place Cards for the Thanksgiving Table. We try to be as creative as possible, but always seem to come back to the traditional Turkey. This turkey incorporates sparkle and shine as well as cute ribbon loop feathers – making me extremely THANKFUL for my KOOL TAK products!
Materials:
KOOL TAK Ultra Clear Sheets – 8″ by 10″
KOOL TAK 3D Glue Embossing Effect
KOOL TAK Shiny Foil Transfer Sheets – Vintage (Burnt Gold)
KOOL TAK Sparkles Bonus Pack – Red (Threading Beads)
KOOL TAK 3D Foam – 1/4″ by 1/4″ by 1/32″ – CLEAR
Smoothfoam Sheet – 12″ by 12″ by 7/8″
Americana paint by DecoArt – Dark Chocolate and Antique Gold
Scissors, pencil, ruler, wooden spool, wooden dowel (6″ long), Dark brown and yellow scrapbook papers, assorted ribbons (approximately 24 pieces 6″ long each), paint brush, serrated knife, plain paper, self adhesive black half pearls (2)
Instructions:
1.) Draw turkey head and body on plain paper, cut out then trace on Smoothfoam sheet. Cut out with serrated knife. Paint edges with Dark Chocolate, let dry. Paint spool and dowel with Antique Gold, let dry. Attach dowel to hole in center of spool using 3D Glue Embossing Effect, let dry.
2.) Trace turkey twice on wrong side of brown scrapbook paper. Peel release liner paper from Ultra Clear Sheet and apply to wrong side. Cut out both turkeys, then peel red release liner and apply one to turkey. Reserve other turkey for later. Cut out triangle from yellow scrapbook paper and attached to turkey with 3D Foam Pads Clear for dimension. Attach black half pearls for eyes. Apply 3D Glue Embossing Effect to side of beak in a waddle shape and immediately fill with Sparkles Bonus Pack Red Threading Beads, let dry. Place two small dots of 3D Glue Embossing Effect to top center of beak and attach two small brown beads using PICK ‘N PLACE Pencil for accuracy.
3.) Draw name on turkey with 3D Glue Embossing Effect, set aside until clear. Apply Shiny Foil Transfer Sheet in Burnt Gold by placing shiny side up and dull side down and rubbing gently with pad of finger. Lift and peel off the foil sheet. The clear plastic release sheet lifts off leaving the shiny foil adhered to the name.
4.) Trace turkey on release liner paper of Ultra Clear Sheet, cut out then peel back release liner paper and apply to backside of turkey. Peel back red release liner to expose adhesive. Fold ribbons in to loops and place around edge. Peel back red release liner from second brown scrapbook paper turkey and apply to backside of turkey, covering ends of ribbons.
5.) Insert dowel in to center bottom of turkey to create a hole. Place a small amount of 3D Glue Embossing Effect on dowel and set aside to let glue dry. Tie two ribbons around base of dowel. Wrap spool with brown ribbon, securing ends with scraps of Ultra Clear Sheet.
