My favorite color is purple, closer to blue than red. I think that may be because I love the shades of violet in Paas Easter Egg Dye, the dye of my childhood. There’s just something about that purple hue, especially when it’s in a basket with all the other colors, that makes my heart sing.
I have since graduated to painted eggs, particularly using metallic colors, and what better way to accent those shimmery shades than a little bling from Kool Tak™. Just by adding some Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear Adhesive and a little of Kool Tak™’s 3D PVA Glue, I was able to adhere glitter and foil to make my eggs really pop – not literally, but you know what I mean. I even used Kool Tak™ 3D PVA glue and Kool Tak™ Sparkles to decorate my wild chick.
Here’s how I did it.

Directions
Flower Pot
Wash the pot and allow it to dry completely. Sand any rough surfaces. Paint it with two coats of metallic paint.
Measure the outer distance around the rim of your flower pot. Cut a piece of scrap paper to that length (tape the ends together if necessary) and two inches wide. Fold the paper in half (Figure 1). Fold in half again (Figure 2) and repeat until it approximately 2″ wide (Figure 3). Draw a half circle midway down on the paper and cut along that line (Figure 4).
You should have a scalloped piece that fits perfectly around the pot top edge. Trace this pattern onto the back side of the Dazzling Diamonds sheet and cut out. Remove the release tape and adhere the bling to your flower pot.
Cut flowers and circles from the Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear sheet. Arrange the flowers and circles on the pot. Apply KoolTak Foils to the stickers.
Tip: Place waxed paper between the adhesive sheet and the die for a nice clean cut.
Add dots of Kool Tak™ 3D PVA Glue to the pot randomly and between each scallop along the rim. Allow the glue to dry, then apply gold foil to the dots.
Eggs
Paint each egg a metallic color and allow to dry completely.
Gold Egg: Apply Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear tape die cut shape to the top of the egg. Apply Kool Tak™ 1/8″ Ultra Clear tape between the petals of the flower down to the tip of the egg. Remove the release tape and apply blue foil.
Purple Egg: Apply Kool Tak™ 1/8″ Ultra Clear tape around the center of the egg. Remove the release tape and apply silver foil. Add Kool Tak™ 3D Pva Glue to make dots. When dots are completely clear and sticky dry, apply foil.
Green Egg: Apply four strips of KoolTak™ 1/8″ Ultra Clear from top to bottom of egg. Remove the release tape and apply Foil.
Blue Egg: Apply Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear die cut shapes randomly around the egg. Remove the release tape and apply Kool Tak™ Sparkles Micro-beads to the flower shapes.
Pink egg: Apply Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear swirl die cut to the egg. Remove the release tape and apply foil, grey side down, color side up..
Chick
Cut the comb from felt. Apply Kool Tak™ 3D PVA Glue, then sprinkle with Kool Tak™ Sparkles Micro-Beads. Repeat for the other side. Set aside to dry.
Fold fabric to 6″ x 8″ and draw basic chick shape (Freehand on chipboard and cut out a pattern if you are uncomfortable with your drawing skills) on backside of fabric with pencil. Draw an additional border outside the first about 3/8″ from pencil line. Cut out chick on the second (outer) line and, using the first pencil line as your guide, apply Kool Tak™ 3D PVA, leaving about 2″ at the bottom of the chick for stuffing. Place the two sides, wrong sides together, and slip the comb into the top of the chick head. Press all around the edge. Allow to dry.
Apply Kool Tak™ 3D PVA Glue to the beak and add Kool Tak™gold glitter. Repeat for other side.
Adhere half pearls in eye areas.
Stuff Chick with fiber fill. Insert a skewer into the bottom and then glue the opening shut.
Assembly
Stuff the bottom of the pot with crumpled freezer paper. Use shears to puncture a hole through the center of the paper wad. Insert the chick’s skewer through the hole to give it stability.
Add green basket filler all around the chick. Trim off any excess.
Place the decorated eggs in the filler, using the small eggs to help them stay in place.
Add dragon fly embellishment, adhering with a Kool Tak™ 3D Foam Pad.
I designed my centerpiece to be taken apart and stored for next year, but if you want a permanent centerpiece, you can add more paper filler to get the base closer to the top and adhere the eggs using the Kool Tak™ 3D Foam Pads on the paper, then stuffing the basket filler all around the eggs. Using green paper for your stuffing will keep the paper from showing through the grass.
Now, I’m ready for one of my favorite holidays and looking forward to dying a ton of purple eggs! – Candice
