The summer is going by so quickly! My seven year old granddaughter Trinity is here for a visit. She is always looking out for our next craft project. We were in Target and she spotted this hat on clearance- yes, she is definitely related to me 🙂 We decided to make a glittered flower hat using some fun Kool Tak™ products.
I recently saw this intriguing material- the Sparkly Adhesive Sheet- in my box of Kool Tak goodies and decided the time was right to experiment with it (seven year olds are quite attracted to glitter and all things sparkly). I like this material too- it reminds me of snow for one thing and I love snow! It is a clear film with a light sprinkling of iridescent glitter and an adhesive backing. I removed the backing, took additional glitters and microbeads and added to the mix to custom design my own colors. The adhesive was strong enough to hold additional colors and textures.
MATERIALS:
- Kool Takâ„¢ Sparkly Adhesive Sheet
- Kool Takâ„¢ Sparkles- green, gold, pink
- Kool Takâ„¢ 3D Foam Squares- 1/2″x 1/2″ x 1/8″ thick, white
- Kool Takâ„¢ Non Stick Craft Sheet
- Kool Takâ„¢ Ultra Clear Tape
purchased hat for $6.03!
TOOLS:
- Sizzix Big Shot machine

Instructions
- Die cut flowers from Sparkly Sheet. Place flowers in embossing folders to give added dimension.
- Peel off backing of each petal and lay on non stick craft mat.
- Sprinkle Sparkles green, pink and gold glitter and microbeads on the adhesive side of the flower shape. Blend colors if desired. If there is an area that is not covered, use your finger to distribute glitter.
- Layer flower petals on top of each other in graduated sizes and place a foam square between each layer for dimension. Adhere a leaf behind each flower.
- Adhere flower to hat with the Ultra Clear tape – you could also anchor in place with a glue gun or wet adhesive, but tape is mess-free and bonds instantly.
- Head out to the Jersey shore this weekend like we are- don’t forget the sunscreen!
Trinity and I hope you enjoy the project- it was so quick and easy and you have to love the glitter!
