We’re rapidly approaching Labor Day, the end of lazy summer days, trips to the beach and catching lightning bugs after dark. What better way to celebrate than hosting the last summer fling for family and friends? A Celebration
This invitation is designed to be memorable and mouth-watering. It’s quick and easy, and the PDF files are included, so you can just download it and print it out. KoolTak™ Premium Extreme was used to join the components, so you can be sure it will stay together, even with postal handling and sitting in a hot mailbox half the day.
Decorate your ice bucket with a small banner (or go overboard and make a large one to hang outside) and personalize the skewers to make toasting marshmallows fun. The use of KoolTak™ Premium Extreme adhesive ensures that your banner and tag components will stand up to heat and cold extremes. All patterned paper for these projects came from the scrap pile, so this are a great way to use up extras from other projects.

Invitation
- Print Celebrate Summer Outside Invitation Pattern #1 pdf file onto medium tan card stock. Score down the middle to create the fold. Fold and smooth crease with bone folder, then cut out each invitation.
- Trace burger components (Celebrate Summer Invitation Pattern Additions #3 pdf file) onto acetate or chipboard with a permanent marker. Cut out and use to trace on printed green card stock and solid red and brown card stock. NOTE: Draw guidelines on the backside of your paper. Run the brown card stock through the Cuttlebug and sponge the entire piece heavily with dark brown ink. Trim the green card stock with deckle-edge scissors, cutting just outside the guideline. Trim the red and brown card stock with regular scissors, cutting just inside the guideline. Sponge all edges with brown ink.
- Print party invitation information on light tan card stock. Type should be no wider than 3 x 2 ½” tall. Test on scrap printer paper to make sure it will fit.
- Print one copy of Celebrate Summer Inside Invitation Pattern #2, trace the outline onto acetate with a permanent marker and trim it out inside the cut lines. Place the acetate on the invitation printout and trace around the outside with a pencil. Trim just inside the pencil edge.
Assembly
- Attach brown cardstock to burger base first, then add the red piece second and the green piece last using ½” KoolTak™ Premium Extreme.
- On the inside, attach the party info with ½” KoolTak™ Premium Extreme.
- Place the invitation in the envelopes.
Celebrate Summer Banner
- Cut 16 patterned card stock scraps into strips 2” x 3 ¼”. Score one end 1/4” from the edge and fold. Cut a v-shaped piece from the opposite end of each piece. Place ½” KoolTak™ Premium Extreme at the top edge with the fold. Sponge all front edges with teal ink. Note: If you are using very light papers, such as the yellow gingham in this banner, sponge a little extra ink in the center so the letter will pop.
- Place Punch Adhesive on the back of white card stock. From this, cut CELEBRATE SUMMER and attach the letters to the mini banner pieces. Be sure the white card stock is sandwiched between the die and the KoolTak™Punch Adhesive Sheet.
- Remove release paper from the top of the mini banner pieces and attach the banners to the ribbon, ½” apart, folding the scored edge over the ribbon about 10” from the beginning. Cut the ribbon 10” from the last letter in celebrate . Repeat with summer, but leave 12 inches on either side.
- Tie the first banner to the ice bucket handles, then center and drape the second banner and attach it. Tie both ends together on each side and make a bow.
Marshmallow Skewers
- Place a small amount of food coloring on a damp paper towel and rub the length of the skewer to tint it. Set it aside to dry. Note: If you are using gel food color, make sure the coat you apply is very light or it may remain sticky.
- Cut patterned card stock, one for each skewer, into 6” x 1” strips. Place ½” Premium Extreme Adhesive down the center length of each strip and fold around the skewer. Trim the ends into a V shape and add the names with a permanent marker. NOTE: Be sure the paper is at least 3 1/2” from the tip of the skewer to keep it from catching fire when the marshmallows are toasted.
- Place marshmallows on the end of each skewer and arrange in glass jar.
- Cut a 2” x 3” tag from patterned card stock. Write YUM! With PDA Liquid Adhesive and allow it to dry clear. Note: Unsure of your freehand drawing with liquid glue? Write the letters with a pencil. The adhesive and foil will cover the lines. Rub the foil sheet, colored side up, over letters and remove it to reveal foiled letters. If you have any bare spots, just rub the foil over it again.
- Punch a hole in the tag top and run about 1 yard of ribbon through it. Wrap and tie the ribbon around the jar neck.
